Primitive protodice and carved six-sided dice have been found in ancient archaeological sites, but the modern casino as we know it did not appear until the 16th century, when a gambling craze swept Europe. At that time, wealthy European nobles often held private parties in places called ridotti, which were technically illegal, but where gambling was permitted.<\/p>\n
Today, the average casino is more like an indoor amusement park for adults than a traditional gaming establishment. In general, security staff try to keep gamblers away from dangerous situations that might put them at risk of robbery or assault. They do this by enforcing rules of conduct, such as keeping their cards visible at all times and maintaining a minimum distance from other players.<\/p>\n
Another security method involves the use of sophisticated software to track casino patrons\u2019 play patterns. This information is used to create a profile of each patron\u2019s habits and identify any patterns that might indicate the existence of a problem.
